About- Acid reflux also known as Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a digestive disease in which backflow of stomach acid irritates the food pipelining (esophagus).
Symptoms-

- Regurgitation
- Bad breath
- Sour taste
- A sensation of a lump in the throat
- Vomiting
- Breathing problems
Causes-
- GERD occurs due to malfunctioning of the lower esophageal sphincter. The common risk factors include
- Obesity
- Stress
- A hiatal hernia
- Consuming particular foods like carbonated beverages, coffee, and chocolate etc.
- Drinking certain beverages, such as alcohol, or coffee
- Certain medications, such as aspirin
- Pregnancy
- Connective tissue disorders, such as scleroderma
- Delayed stomach emptying
- Smoking (active or passive)
- Low levels of physical exercise
